Women have been abused for centuries. Shall we allow this to continue? NO.
As long ago as 500BC women were property owners, had say-so in diplomacy, were loved and respected in their communities, were praised for their diligence, were given helpers and assistants to help in the housework and in raising and educating the kids. In spite of the lack of modern day conveniences, life could be better for women than it is today. In essence, women were better off, lived longer, and had happier lives than now.
What happened? Men. Men became selfish, they made women into slaves, denied them the simplest pleasures, have even assured them that they were not even human, their value was assessed as breeding stock.
Let me show you some key points in how this happened in history...
1. 300 BC... In ancient Israel the women was given a Ketubah at their wedding. The contents of this document had to be approved by the woman and contained such information as the status of her property, what and how much housework she had to do, when her husband was expected to spend time with her in bed, and even more... This document also spelled out the disposition of her husbands property were he to die or divorce her, making sure that she got a fair share of everything.
2. 300 AD... Roman women were not allowed to own property unless they were of a noble house, and if their husbands died and the sons were unwilling to care for her, she was out on the street facing a life of prostitution or worse.
3. 600 AD... Female life spans had dropped from around 100 to about 60 due to increased family size. Women were to have kids until she could no longer produce or until she died. The husband was not allowed to divorce her unless she could be a proven adulteress and if she was, she was sent to prison to die. If she was barren, his main option was to convince the courts that she was crazy and have her sent to an insane asylum so that he could remarry legally.
4. 1000 AD... Women are now declared to be full of sin. Women are told that they cannot enjoy a man in bed and if she does, then they sin and BOTH go to hell. Now to add insult to injury, the Catholic Church declares that women are not human. Pope Innocent stated that although Moses, Abraham, Jacob and others had wives, they didn't ENJOY IT, but only tolerated them so that they could have SONS!
5. 1600 AD... Women are dying daily from the black plague, STD's coupled with rampant prostitution. Many women were left to die on the streets as they had little way to support themselves. Women have been cut into two categories... the ones that live with rich men, and the ones that don't. Sex crimes reach an all time high and the life span for a woman goes from 60 to 40 years.
6. 1700's America is discovered and a lot of oppressed, religious, fairly well to do people flee from the mess they created and move to the new world. They bring with them slavery, prostitution, religious persecution and the practice of torturing and burning "witches". They start to teach the poor heathen Indians that their way is better and when the natives try to decide for themselves the US declares war against them and all but wipe them out.
7. 1800, women are dying at an astonishing rate. Women are being killed from childbirth in unsanitary conditions, horrible overwork and ignorance. Birth Control is illegal and men have forgotten that a woman was to be a helper... not a slave. Slavery seems good for most people but by setting aside the Old Testament, they can now own a slave for LIFE instead of 6 years. Men make sure they can beat women and slaves if they didn't work themselves to death and insisted that the law supported this. There are laws on the books in places that allow a man to beat his wife in public on the courthouse lawn if she has been disobedient. Women are still taught that they don't need to read, that they have value to men, but only if they are able to produce children.
You believe that this has ended? Keep reading and I will show you.
Today the divorce rate is 60% or higher. Efforts are being made to legalize prostitution in quite a few states so that the government can control it (and make money on it). In test states, programs are being set in place where government officers monitor births in hospitals and administer tests to the mother and father to decide if they have "abusive" traits such as low incomes, marital problems, or a parental history of abuse. If the family tests badly, the state is sending social workers to their homes on a regular basis to make sure they are never abusive. Punishments and discipline are regulated by the social worker, not the parents... and if a disagreement arises between the parent and social worker, the worker has the right to remove the children to a state facility with retroactive court action.
Dads are leaving home so fast that there is a never-ending supply of "guests" for talk shows. Parents that work minimum wage jobs are not able to provide proper support for the children most times and the children are being raised by day-care centers and not the parents and newly single mom!
Single parents find that they have to work 80 or more hours a week just to pay the rent after day care expenses are taken out of their checks. Sometimes daycares consume much as 50% of their weekly income and many are opting for state operated day care centers that are operated by the lowest bidder. Many of these facilities offer little to no security for the children. Quite a few of these low cost centers teach the children habits and behaviors that can take a lifetime to un-teach.
Dating is a real problem for most single mothers. Men will say "of course I love you" until they get the woman into bed but never intend commitment because they do not want the responsibility of someone elses kids. Most of the men by age 30 that are good husbands are already married, and condensed into the remainder are the abusers, drinkers, and the ones that use women for beer money. Women that are lonely for companionship and can be easily charmed are easy prey. Finding a man that will marry a woman with children knowing they will suffer the hardships and raise someone else's kids as their own is difficult if not impossible.
Children abandoned by their dads and find no male influence in the home, also children of abusive moms and dads tend to involve themselves in crime at an astonishing rate (moms will overlook the abuse just to keep the man). Statistics show that the children of broken and dysfunctional homes are almost guaranteed to divorce in their future, passing along the dysfunction to their children.
The government has no real solution, the churches ignore the problem so it makes you wonder if there is a solution... well... there is, you will find it in the Bible, and it is the first thing that men took away from women... Polygyny.
Polygyny is the act of marrying more than one wife. Now the practical result of polygyny is this...
1. Abuse is diminished. Abused wives find that they can fight back. It is far easier for her to establish her rights if she has help.
2. Poly husbands rarely cheat, this allows for more security in the home.
3. Poly families have fewer day care problems, in fact, most have none.
4. Poly families are less likely to be stricken by STD's.
5. Kids that grow up in poly households know more love, sharing, and caring than in a lot of mono families and as a result are better people, better adjusted, and a huge plus is that when the parents are older they find that the kids are a lot less likely to put them in a nursing home.
6. Each wife watches the other wives for stress and can help when one needs a break, wives also watch the other wives and husbands relationship and can offer good, knowledgeable advice.
7. In a poly family, it is really rare for the loss of one job to make a destructive impact.
8. Jealousy is the fear of being replaced. Nearly all poly families find that the initial jealousy evaporates after the first week or two and the security that replaces it is unbelievably liberating.
9. Child abuse drops dramatically. No one will easily abuse a child if someone is watching.
10. The death of the husband or a wife does not destroy the family and grieving is easier with someone that cares to share it with you. In addition, if one family member dies, the children are easily taken care of, never having to go into "foster care" or other government programs as the remaining family members can easily continue to raise them.
11. Successful poly families have structure. Structure provides security. Security is one of the biggest keys in a solid family. Each family member is aware that they are responsible for their tasks, and once completed, the sense of accomplishment and belonging is magnified.
So, tell me, what is bad about polygamy? Simple. It is bad for men.
WHAT?
1. Poly means that there are fewer prostitutes on the street.
2. Mistresses (the act of having a woman "on the side" currently allows him to have most of the benefits, but not shoulder any responsibility.
3. Banning polygyny means that dating evolves from getting to know a lady, to going out to see if you can convince her to have sex, again, without having to assume the responsibility of marriage.
4. Men that are abusers and rotten men (as one poly wife said to me recently), are forced to stop abusing the women or they will never get one.
5. Men in poly households have more responsibility. They have two or more women looking to them for guidance and support. If he tries to "take charge" and hit one of his wives he might find himself on the receiving end of a skillet by one of the others.
Does he get benefits? Yes and no. Yes he has more than one woman to have sex with, but he ONLY has the ones that he is married to. Do you think that he will cheat with three wives home to kill him when they find out? I don't think so. Do you think he will molest a child if he KNOWS that his wives will hang him from the ceiling fan by his... when they find out?
Now, will all men marry more than one woman? No. Some will only want one, some will want none, but this choice was allowed in the Bible... but is forbidden today.
Who forbids it? The Bible? No..., the Bible never forbade it in the Old or New Testament, so who stopped it? MEN DID. See it is MUCH easier to control a single wife, much easier to make her believe that having babies and washing the dishes is what married life is supposed to be. Two women talk, help each other, are there for each other, should be best friends, and as a result, if He comes and says you are going to do something stupid... women have a say in the matter... and "shut up woman" will NOT work. Now remember the start of this article? Today, missionaries our churches are in other countries that have good, solid families and are teaching them that polygamy is a form of adultery (I think that Jacob and Moses would look at their wives (Moses 2, Jacob 4) and cry were they to hear this). They are destroying families, not in the name of God, but in the name of a misplaced morality. These men need our prayer. They need to realize they are doing more harm than good by preaching and demanding this. Funny though, if you ask them what the 3rd and 4th wife is to do without her husband... they don't know...

They can be prostitutes and feed their now "dadless" kids.
This article was written at the urging of My Lord, and the need to address a wrong that has gone on too long, and the wrong is to families and children, the two most venerable groups. Our Children are our future, and if we do not raise them in the Truth and Peace that comes from the Christ, then we fail in raising them totally.
